Stay informed about when and how child benefit (Kindergeld) and child supplement (Kinderzuschlag) will be paid.
Kindergeld and Kinderzuschlag are paid simultaneously. The last digit of your child benefit number (the so-called end digit) determines when the corresponding amounts will be transferred to your account.
For example: If your Kindergeld number is xxxFKxxxxx9, the end digit is 9. This digit determines the days on which the Familienkasse will transfer the payments.

More Information on Child Benefit and Child Supplement Payments
Child benefit and child supplement are transferred and cannot be paid out in cash. The amount will be credited to your account on the day of transfer, and you can access it on that day.
Payment Based on End Digits
For technical reasons, the Familienkasse does not transfer the monthly benefits on the same day to all customers but staggers the payments. The end digits of the child benefit numbers are used to structure the transfers.
Customers with the end digit 0 receive the payment at the beginning of the month. This is followed by payments for end digit 1, and so on. The payment dates for customers with the end digit 9 are always at the end of the month.
Important: On weekends and public holidays, the arrival of the money may be delayed. You do not have a legal claim to have your benefits transferred on a specific day of the month.
First-time Payment
For the first-time payment, you will receive the full monthly amount, even if your entitlement to these benefits is only met on the last day of the month.
Example: Your child was born on March 30th. Then you will receive the full child benefit and, if applicable, the full child supplement for March.
